Whether you’re new to the industry or looking to advance from Class 2, our expert instructors are here to guide you every step of the way.

What is a Class 1 HGV Training?

Class 1 HGV Training refers to the training required to obtain a Category C+E licence, which allows you to drive articulated lorries, also known as Class 1 vehicles. These are the largest and heaviest vehicles on UK roads, typically used for long-distance haulage and transporting goods across the country or internationally.

Class 1 vehicles consist of a tractor unit and a detachable trailer, which gives them more flexibility and load capacity than rigid-body lorries.

To begin Class 1 HGV training, you must already hold a Class 2 (Category C) licence, which qualifies you to drive rigid HGVs. Class 1 is a natural progression for drivers looking to advance their careers, increase their earning potential, and access a wider range of job opportunities in the transport and logistics sector.
